In one short week, Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights events will kick off around the globe. First up, is Universal Studios Japan's 3rd-ever Halloween Horror Nights, a part of their “Universal's Surprise Halloween” event. If you haven't been following our HHN Japan 2013 News posts, we'll outline the gist of this year's event below.
Universal Studios Japan has been holding “Halloween Horror Night” (singular) events since 2011. The event has grown with each passing year, and 2013's Halloween Horror Nights (now plural) promises to be the largest yet, covering over 90% of the park.
What's New?
MORE Zombies! Last year's popular free-roaming zombie hordes will return, but their range expands to 3 times its size in 2012. There will now be 5 specified zombie-filled zones, in addition to a special photo-opportunity area. Be on the lookout for unexpected moments, like a spontaneous “Thriller” flash mob!
In keeping with the tradition of “haunted” attractions, HHN 2013 introduces Sadako, the vengeful spirit from the popular “Ringu/The Ring” film series. This terrifying specter can be found in the Space Fantasy: The Ride, Terminator 2: 3D, Backdraft, Jurassic Park and Jaws attractions.
And speaking of restaurants, HHN 2013 introduces an interesting new concept: Once the sun sets, USJ's Saido restaurant becomes “Blind Terror: The Dark Restaurant,” a dining experience that occurs in the complete and utter darkness of a resurrected zombie chef's restaurant.
What's Returning?
The Mad Master of the Machete, Jason Voorhees, returns to HHN 2013 in “Friday the 13th: Jason's Bloody Diner 2.”
The dusty denizens of “The Mummy Museum” return for the third consecutive year.
What Else?
Guests will also have the opportunity to experience USJ's popular new (limited-time) attraction, “Biohazard: The Real.” This interactive shooter experience takes guests into the dark, monstrosity-filled world of the “Biohazard/Resident Evil” videogame franchise.
Universal Studios Japan's Halloween Horror Nights 2013 begins on Friday, September 13th and runs on select nights through November 10th. For more information, please visit the official website.
