30 Days of Halloween Horror Nights: Which HHN Icon Is Your Favorite?
Prior to 2008, I’d always had a soft-spot for The Caretaker. His creepy-funeral-home-director vibe and fondness for cartoonishly-oversized medical instruments made him a genuinely scary character. That is, until Bloody Mary arrived on the scene.
Now, I’ve been trying to piece together Bloody Mary’s backstory for months. It’s a complicated, convoluted tale that spans over a hundred years of fictional history that, in the end, has absolutely nothing to do with why she’s my favorite. In fact, I think I’d have a hard time pinning down one particular reason why I like her, but I’ll run through a few:
- She’s moody: Did you see the front-entrance video of her? Mary swings from calm to RAGE at the drop of a hat.
- She’s creepy-looking: The facial scars and white eyes give me the willies.
- She’s a snappy dresser: Look at that dress in the picture above. That’s some nice detail work.
- She’s spastic: Just go watch the official HHN 18 commercial again. Those herky-jerky movements are always unsettling.
- She’s kinda hot: Just look at those pouty lips.
Wow, when I put it like that, Bloody Mary sounds like some of the girls I used to date.
