This was my second time at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights but it felt like my first. I thought it was going to be similar to last year, and boy was I wrong.
It’s the 25th year of Halloween Horror Nights, and they went all out to make it an extra scary event! The level of detail the Horror Nights team puts into sets, costumes and story makes for a truly immersive experience. More than once I forgot I was in Orlando and felt like I was in some spooky dimension. That’s how well they create the scare zones and houses!
The haunted houses were chilling as always! This year they have 9 haunted houses, which is more than they’ve ever had. Several are based on major horror movies and TV shows that made me feel like I was put right in the middle of them. I was so into the story that I would forget there was something around every corner just waiting to reach out and scare me!
Body Collectors: Recollections was particularly terrifying. People were popping out everywhere and you got the sense that they were hunting YOU. It felt like a real scenario which made it extra horrifying. Your survival skills kick in, and the only way out is to keep going forward! While all the houses are incredibly scary those two had me absolutely horrified!
But the haunted house that takes the cake is Jack Presents: 25 Years of Monsters and Mayhem. Universal really outdid themselves with this one! They’ve taken some of the most iconic monsters and elements from the different houses they’ve had over 25 years and mashed it together in one terrifying experience. In between my screams of terror I was able to appreciate how unique each monster was. Universal Studios really has a nightmare for every occasion!
The scare zones were also incredibly spooky. The amount of time and effort put into them is amazing!
With the 5 scare zones spread throughout the park, if feels like there is nowhere safe to hide. My favorite would have to be Psychoscareapy – Unleashed. I’m partial to it because I had the incredible opportunity to be one of the scarectors and was transformed into an escaped patient from Shadybrook Asylum. I tried to do a bit of scaring myself and I promise you, it is much harder than you would think to put on a brave face and not run away screaming like a baby!
If anyone is looking for a frightening way to spend your October nights then Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights is the place to go. Just don’t expect to sleep anytime soon!
