As he does each year, Universal Studios Hollywood’s HHN Creative Director, John Murdy, has tweeted his list of tips for maximizing your enjoyment of Halloween Horror Nights. We’ve compiled these to make them a bit easier to read, but the full list can be found over at the official USH HHN Twitter account. This is Part II.
Tips for navigating the park:
If you haven’t been to USH since last HHN, a lot has changed and mazes are in different locations this year. The park is undergoing a major evolution for future attractions so I’ll tweet the layout for this year, starting from the main gate:
- The PURGE scarezone is just inside the main gate through NY set street.
- Entrance to MONSTERS REMIX maze is at House of Horrors on the left.
- Entrance to EL CUCUY maze is at the new Universal Plaza…. The Universal Plaza/El Cucuy maze entrance is just past our flame towers, the maze exits into the CIRQUE DU KLOWNZ scarezone on French St.
- The CURSE OF CHUCKY scarezone is on Baker Street, just past exit of UNIVERSAL MONSTERS REMIX.
- Now, let’s talk about TERROR TRAM. HHN is open till 2AM but Terror Tram shuts down early, midnight on weekends, earlier on Sundays/Thursdays…try to hit it early in the night. While TERROR TRAM INVADED BY THE WALKING DEAD still departs from entrance to Studio Tour, it’s a little different path to get there. As you approach the Simpsons ride, look for Terror Tram signage to the right of Simpsons.
- The Bill and Ted Show is in the Castle Theatre.
- For the rest of HHN, you take the Starway Escalator to the LOWER LOT..pay attention to the escalator’s spiel…he says some rude things! LOL
- When you get off the escalator, entrance to EVIL DEAD and INSIDIOUS mazes are to your left. Jurassic Park in the Dark is also on your left.
- Revenge of the Mummy and Transformers ride are also open for HHN.
- To the right of Transformers is the entrance to the Backlot Express. There’s a whole new area of our backlot with new WALKING DEAD maze/scarezone & BLACK SABBATH 13 3D maze, enter to the right of Transformers.
- In general, when navigating a theme park start at the furthest point from main gate and work backwards, lines are usually shorter earlier in the night.
So those are my tips for HHN 2013…employee preview tonight, opening night on Friday…been working on this for a year…and now its here!
