“Harvest of the Souls,” Universal Studios Florida, 2006.
On this date in 2001, “Jeepers Creepers” was released in theaters. The film’s antagonist is an immortal demon, called “The Creeper,” who awakens every twenty-third spring to feed on humans for twenty-three days.
While “Jeepers Creepers” was filmed at various locations throughout Florida, The Creeper actually made a physical appearance in Halloween Horror Nights 16’s “Harvest of the Souls” scarezone.
“Jeepers Creepers” was, at the time, “the highest-grossing film to ever be released over Labor Day weekend” [source]. The film was followed by a sequel, “Jeepers Creepers II” (2003), and a third entry in the series is expected in 2013.
