30 Days of Halloween Horror Nights: What’s Your All-Time Favorite Year?
After much angst and deliberation, I’m at peace with my decision. My all-time favorite year of Halloween Horror Nights (thus far) is . . . Halloween Horror Nights 15: Tales of Terror!
Forgetting the foibles of “The Storyteller,” the 2005 event was a perfect storm of a year for Halloween Horror Nights. Set in Universal’s Islands of Adventure park, a lush, heavily-themed park full of narrow, winding pathways, the event featured unique, original-ish houses (“The Skool,” “Body Collectors” and “Demon Cantina”), intimidating scarezones (“Cemetery Mines” and “Blood Thunder Alley”) and a fearsome, iconic new Icon (The Terra Queen).
For the first time in HHN history, there was an extensively-detailed overarching storyline that wove its way through every house and scarezone. This thread of continuity made the event feel like more than just a theme park event: it felt like entering a brand-new world!
And did I mention the Fried Twinkies?
