30 Days of Halloween Horror Nights: What’s Your All-Time Favorite “Humor” House?
I thoroughly enjoyed Halloween Horror Nights 21’s “H. R. Bloodengutz presents Holidays of Horror.” From its violent public-access-quality queue line videos to the sadistic, gun-toting Christmas Elves, this house was a wonder of campy, tongue-in-cheek humor.
Being a fan of terrible puns, I giggled at “Bloodengutz'” faux holiday film names:
- “VD 2: The Recurrence”
- “When the Bough Breaks, the Limbs Will Fall . . . Off”
- “St. Patrick’s Day: Get Lucked”
- “Thanks-Killing”
- “Ho-Ho-Homicide”
I really appreciated the fantastic detail and subtle touches that this house featured: “Dead Presidents Day II’s” nuclear briefcase and guest-activated explosion, the transition scenes and their snowy mini-movies, the knife-brandishing Indian squaws, and, of course, The Feaster Bunny, himself.
